The gameplay system is similar to Fallout 3 gameplay, although some changes have been made, one being changes to the combat system to give the feel of a first-person shooter, including the ability to use weapon iron sights. It is set primarily in a post-apocalyptic Nevada, although some areas of California and Arizona are also visited. It was developed by a few of the employees who worked on previous Fallout games at Black Isle Studios, along with a larger number of new employees. While New Vegas is not a direct sequel, it uses the same engine and style as Fallout 3. The first quest in this expansion begins with The Reunion.įallout: New Vegas is a post apocalyptic role-playing video game developed by Obsidian Entertainment and published by Bethesda Softworks. The road to the Divide is a long and treacherous one, and of the few brave enough to walk it, none have ever returned. This is the fabled location of the battle between the Courier and Ulysses.

In his transmission, Ulysses promises the answer as to why, but only if you take one last job - a job that leads you into the depths of the Divide, a landscape torn apart by frequent earthquakes and violent storms. Lonesome Road brings the Courier's story full circle when you are contacted by the original "Courier Six", a man by the name of Ulysses, a former Frumentarius of Caesar who refused to deliver the Platinum chip at the start of the main storyline in Fallout: New Vegas. He wields a shoulder mounted machine gun. His armor and mask are a crude imitation of Legate Lanius's armor, indicating that he was a legionary in his former life. His health and combat skills are higher than those of a normal marked man, and are on par with those of a companion.
